Rev. John L. Kistler came to Kennedy First Alliance Church in December of 2003. He has been pastoring churches since 2000. John is an ordained minister with the Christian and Missionary Alliance.

Pastor John was born and raised in the Pittsburgh area.

He’s a jack of all trades. Full-time pastoral work came after years of working for various area companies: United States Steel for 10 years, as a pressman for a local printing company and finally for The Bair Foundation as a Therapeutic Staff Foster Parent from 1988–2000.

His road towards a college degree included attending: Grove City College, Valley Forge Christian College, until he was able to graduate from Geneva College in 1997 with a BS in Human Resource Management and then a Masters in Organizational Leadership.

Before becoming a pastor John had been in lay leadership (Elder) since 1993 within his local church.

John has been married for 33 years to his wife, Linda (a Pittsburgh Area Special Education Teacher). They have two adult children: a son (plus a daughter-in-law) and daughter (plus a son-in-law). They also enjoy spending as much time as possible with their grandchildren.

If any verse could define Pastor John’s call to ministry and the vision he leads for Kennedy First it would be:

“The Lord gave me a message.  He said, ‘I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb.  Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my spokesman to the world.’  ‘O Sovereign Lord,’ I said, ‘I can’t speak for you!  I’m too young!’  ‘Don’t say that,’ the Lord replied, ‘for you must go where I send you and say whatever I tell you.  And don’t be afraid of the people, for I will be with you and take care of you.  I, the Lord, have spoken!’  Then the Lord touched my mouth and said, ‘See, I have put my words in your mouth.  Today I appoint you to stand up against nations and kingdoms.  You are to uproot some and tear them down, to destroy and overthrow them.  You are to build others up and plant them’” (Jeremiah 1:4-10 NLT).
